    New HVAC Duct Sizer APP

    Last updated 6 years ago

Heating and air conditioning circulates through the ducts of your home.  Your ducts help ensure your home is operating efficiently and effectively; working to improve your home's air quality.  Installing ducts can be a difficult job because positioning is exceptionally important; you don’t want your ducts to leak into the outdoors, and you want to have conditioned air reach all rooms with a little ductwork as possible

Another challenge to replacing ducts is getting the right sizes, as it can be a complicated formula.  That's why a lot of people are using the new HVAC Duct Sizer app, which is a great resource for duct sizing analysis.

If you're in the need of duct repair or replacement, then call us at (210) 591-7847 to speak with a representitive at Jon Wayne Heating and Air Conditioning of San Antonio.  We'll get your heating and air conditioning running like it's supposed to be running.  For a free quote, call or visit our website today.

Benefits of Having a Complete Home Evaluation

    Last updated 6 years ago

A well-insulated home will help keep the warmth of the hot San Antonio sun outside, while maintaining a nice, cool interior during the hot summers.  In order for this delicate system to operate efficiently and properly, there are several components that need to do their share.  Getting a complete home evaluation helps you manage all of these working parts.

    Quality Air

Many people think of the air conditioner as the machine that creates the cool air in your home.  While that’s certainly true, that's only part of what an air conditioner does.  Your HVAC system cleans and conditions the air you breathe, filtering out pollutants as it circulates throughout your home.  A home evaluation makes sure this is being done properly.

    Lower Humidity

Your air conditioner also removes the humidity in your home, keeping it below 50%.  While staying cool is important, keeping humidity low is essential.  Your AC may be running full blast, but you still won't be comfortable if humidity is high.  Humidity also fosters the growth of harmful things, such as mold, viruses, bacteria, and dust mites.  When you lower the humidity, these things die, and your San Antonio home becomes much more comfortable and healthy.

    Efficiency

A home evaluation will also maximize your home’s efficiency.  The evaluation will ensure that your ducts, insulation, and ventilation are all working properly in your home.  Identifying and solving humidity and duct issues will also allow you to get the most out of your heating and air conditioning.

How to Make Your HVAC System Run More Efficiently

    Last updated 6 years ago

Energy efficiency is great for reducing monthly bills and helping the environment.  San Antonio naturally has great weather for many months of the year, but during those peak winter and summer months, heating and air conditioning are essential.

Thankfully, getting your home to a comfortable temperature with your HVAC in San Antonio doesn’t having to mean spending a lot of money or damaging the planet.  Here are a few simple tips on running your HVAC system more efficiently:

    1. Regular maintenance on your heating and air conditioning unit is essential.  Many San Antonio HVAC repair companies offer annual maintenance contracts.  These will save you the trouble of having to hire someone each season, and maintenance contracts will also save you money.
    2. Replace or change reusable air filters on a monthly basis during regular use.  Dirty air filters make your HVAC system work harder.  Air filters are cheap, especially when compared to how much you will save on your bills.
    3. Invest in a programmable thermostat with the Energy Star stamp.  A good thermostat will help regulate your heating and air conditioning units so that they only run when they absolutely need to.
    4. Be sure your home is properly sealed and able to hold in the air your HVAC provides.  Windows and doors that aren’t properly sealed can let out the air and force your HVAC to run more often.
    5. Work with the outdoors.  In the summer, protect your home from direct sunlight.  When cooling your home, close curtains and blinds during the day.  During the winter when running your heater, let in as much sun as possible.

For more help on getting your home the perfect temperature, contact  John Wayne Heating and Air Company at (210) 591-7847, in San Antonio, Texas.  We can help your home be comfortable during those especially hot months of summer and cool months of winter.

    Tips for Troubleshooting Your Furnace

    Last updated 6 years ago

Furnaces always seem to stop working right when we need them—during the few cold months of San Antonio having an HVAC repairman come out can be expensive, and it may even be a couple days before they’re able to get to your house.  For those times, it’s best to know how to troubleshoot your furnace yourself.

If your furnace isn’t running at all, then there are a few basic things to check:

    • Be sure the furnace is getting power.  There could be a blown fuse or a tripped breaker.  Your furnace may also have a separate power switch that needs to be turned on.
    • The motor may be overloaded.  Wait 30 minutes and press the reset button.
    • You might need to re-light the pilot.  Also be sure the furnace is getting gas by checking to see if the gas valve is fully open.
    • If none of this works you’ll probably have to call your San Antonio A/C repair service for maintenance.

If your furnace is running but not giving enough heat, then here are a few things to check:

    • Check the filter.  Heating and air conditioning filters need to be replaced or cleaned once a month when they’re being used regularly.
    • Your furnace blower might be clogged.  Unclogging it can be a bit of a pain depending on your furnace, but it’s a relatively simple process.
    • Check the registers and balance of your system.  Close registers to rooms that aren’t used regularly and be sure the rooms you’re using are open and pointed in the proper direction.
    • The blower belt to your furnace may be loose or broken.  Adjust the belt so it’s snug or replace it if it’s broken.

If you’re still having problems, then it’s time to call John Wayne Heating and Air in San Antonio, Texas.  Even if it can’t be fixed, we can get you set up with a new furnace.  Don’t be left in the cold—call us at (210) 591-7847  for HVAC help you can count on.
