Top 4 Upgrades for your HVAC system

    Last updated 6 years ago

A heating and air conditioning system is essential for your home and your personal comfort.  A well-kept HVAC system can be relatively efficient and reliable, keeping the repair and energy bills low.

An improved heating and air conditioning system can mean a better system, like better energy efficiency and air quality.  If you are looking to improve the way your heating and air conditioning system works, consider looking at some of the following upgrades for your system:

    UV Lamps

A UV lamp, when added to an indoor coil or air conditioner, can kill mold and bacteria which would otherwise be carried throughout your house.

    Air Purifiers

As air passes through your air conditioning system, an air purifier can stop harmful bacteria and can even help with allergies.

    Dehumidifiers

Take some stress off of your hard working A/C system with a dehumidifier.  A dehumidifier takes moisture from the air, which leaves the air feeling much more comfortable than before, so it allows you to raise the temperature a few degrees.  Installing a dehumidifier will end up saving you money on future energy bills, as well as adding extra comfort.

    Advanced Air Filters

Advanced air filters can come in two forms: electronic filters and extended life filters.  Electronic filters can capture dust and allergens, and are easily installed to your current A/C system.  Extended life filters feature a large surface area, which requires yearly filter changes instead of monthly changes.

Signs that you need to replace your A/C system

    Last updated 6 years ago

Your heating and air conditioning system is crucial during those harsh summers and winters.  An air conditioning system is certainly an important for any home, whatever the climate may be.

However, heating and air conditioning units require replacements occasionally, in order to ensure proper operation.  A replaced A/C system might also mean a more efficient heating and cooling system, which will end up saving you on future energy bills.

Here are a few signs that may tell you that your A/C system needs a replacement:

    • A Noisy System: A noisy A/C system may be a signal that your heating and cooling system is undersized, or that the indoor coil, which is in your cooling system, has some sort of issue.
    • Some Rooms Are Hot, Others Not: If the temperature of some rooms is different from other rooms, you may have a problem with your duct sealing, equipment operation, or insulation.  This may be caused by one or more of these problems, so be sure to contact a heating and air conditioning company for a proper diagnosis.
    • Too Much Dust: Excessive amounts of dust in your house could be caused by a leaky duct, which brings dust from parts of your home such as your attic or basement and carries it to more commonly used rooms.
    • Obsolete Equipment: If your heat pump or air conditioner is older than 10 years, or if you furnace or boiler is older than 15 years—it’s time for a replacement.  A new system can be much more efficient and reliable.
