Signs It's Time to Call a Professional to Repair Your HVAC System

    Last updated 6 years ago

When the weather gets hot in San Antonio, air conditioning is a necessity. You expect your HVAC system to be working when you get back to your house, and the best way to make sure your system stays in good working order is to keep your HVAC in good repair, which will also save you money.

These signs indicate that it's time to call a professional about repairing your HVAC system.

    Constant Operation

If your air conditioner seems to be running all the time, even when you haven’t recently lowered the temperature, then your air conditioner isn't running very efficiently, essentially be working harder than necessary to produce warmer air. Air conditioners that are constantly working probably have clogged vents and filters or worn-out motors, and should be serviced before the peak season.

    Poor Cooling

Some signs of inefficiency would be its running very loudly or a general inability to produce cool air. If your home feels warm no matter how hard the AC is running, you are probably due for repair. Poor cooling and low airflow provide very little escape from the heat—there’s no reason to pay to operate a machine that isn’t doing anything.

    Leaking Fluids

A sure-fire sign that it's time for repair is when your HVAC is leaking fluids, such as refrigerant or water, or if ice is forming on the unit! If you witness these systems, call your HVAC specialists immediately.

At Jon Wayne Heating and Air Conditioning, we'll get your HVAC system running just the way it's supposed to. Our technicians are NATE certified and provide fast, same day service. To get a free quote give us a call at (210) 591-7847 or visit our website.

How to Prepare Your AC for Summer

    Last updated 6 years ago

When the warmer months come around, you don't want to find out that your air conditioner needs repair. Especially here in San Antonio, AC repair should a part of your spring cleaning check list. That way you'll be ready to go when the heat wave begins. Let's take a look at how you can get your air conditioner and your home ready for summer.

    Change Your Filter

Just like you get an oil and filter change on your car, your AC should have its filter changed every two or three months, and the filter should be cleaned about every month. The filter collects all of the impurities which your air conditioning system removes from the air in your home, so make sure your filter stays clean so it can continue to do its job.

    Schedule Frequent Check-Ups

It's a good idea to have your air conditioner checked out for regular maintenance and minor repairs. These preventative services do wonders in helping to avoid costly replacements. Catching a problem in its infancy reduces the risk that your necessary repairs will be costly and inconvenient.

    Evaluate Your Home

Your air conditioning is one part of your home's system, but don’t neglect the insulation around your house, the ducts designed to distribute conditioned air, the filters to help clean the air you breathe, and an HVAC system that removes the humidity from the air! The best way to make sure your house is clean, cool, and comfortable is to get a home evaluation. Improving your home’s general efficiency is also a great way to save money.

At Jon Wayne Heating and Air Conditioning, our certified technicians can get your air conditioning system all set for summer. We can also perform home evaluations if you're looking to maximize your home's comfort, efficiency, and air quality. Call us at (210) 591-7847 or visit our website for your free quote.

Signs It's Time to Replace Your Ducts

    Last updated 6 years ago

Your heating and air conditioning works through your home by way of your ducts. As you can imagine, ducts play a huge role in determining the quality and efficiency of your heating and air conditioning. Unfortunately, over time your ducts deteriorate and begin to work against you. Here are some of the signs your ducts need to be replaced, so you can get the most out of your heating and air conditioning.

    Temperature Differences

If some rooms get the air conditioning, while other rooms don't, then it's probably because of your ductwork. The resolution to this is duct replacement, because new duct work will be designed so that every room in the house gets heating and air conditioning, not just a few of them. Once you have your duct work reorganized, you'll see a big difference in the comfort of your home.

    Falling Apart

If you can see that your ducts are deteriorating, you'll want to consider repair or replacement. You’ll want to check your ducts every once in a while for cracking, separating, and sagging. If your ducts are in bad shape, then the conditioned air will leak into some rooms and stay out of others.

    Air Quality

If you’re constantly sniffling or coughing, then poor indoor air quality may be to blame. While it’s not the first thing you think of, your ducts may be the source of your woes! Dirty air ducts will circulate dusty, low quality air. Have your ducts cleaned once a year to breathe easy. If, however, your ducts are cracked, then they’ll easily and constantly refill with dust and debris; you may want to have them replaced.
